A lot has happened since my last blog post. We are parents to an adorable little 2 year old boy. We adopted Jasper at birth - well, we met him and his birth mama when he was 19 hours old. It would take quite a while to document our adoption journey and to fill this blog up with pictures of him - which I just might do. The picture above is our most recent picture and was taken on Easte Sunday 2021.
Things seem to have gotten quite weird in our world during the last year. I really don't know how censored blogs are compared to other social media accounts - but we'll give this a try. January 2020 there was this horrible virus discovered in China. Then it came to US. Then we were told to "stay home" for 2 weeks to "flatten the curve." 2 weeks have turned into over a year. People's office buildings closed and employees started working from home. Almost everything was cancelled, shut down as we waited for this virus to pass. Restaurants, playgrounds, schools, small businesses all closed down. Target, Walmart, Amazon, grocery stores all stayed open. We were told to not wear masks - that healthy people don't need to wear masks. Then we were told we needed to wear masks - because masks stopped droplets from spreading from us to others. Now, we're being told to wear 2 masks. There was talk of a vaccine coming out and now that vaccine is out. Several people have gotten very ill and some have died after taking the vaccine. There's talk of a vaccine passport - and if you're not vaccinated you wont be able to attend certain things like concerts, restaurants or maybe even travel. What a crazy world to be living in right now. I am thankful that Jasper is so young that he wont remember any of this year, however fearful for what his future will be like.
We are just starting the adoption process again! Dennis and I both have filled out our background check information and we'll need to get physicals, ask for reference letters, provide financial statements and update our present life sketch. I am excited and nervous all at the same time.
I have started driving for doordash, delivering food from restaurants to people to try and save a little more money for adoption - however the money so far is going towards Dennis' structural integration appointments and Jasper's My Gym. I suppose it is nice to have money to put towards those things and not have to wonder/worry about where that money is going to come from.
Dennis is still with Climate Control. I don't suppose he'll ever quit working there unless we move to a different state.
Anyway - I will let this be all for now - Dennis wants to do taxes with my computer and I will start composing my next blog entry post in my head. I'm guessing it'll be about the phone call that told us all about Jasper. :)
